Texas Fireflies Breeding Guide

How to help protect and preserve native firefly populations by breeding them at home.

Getting Started & Words of Caution

When starting your Firefly Journey you'll need to find your first female and set of males to produce approx 200 larva for a colony. Due to the inital need of pulling from the native population I must note keeping fireflies in a domestic lab at home is not a small task. It will take approx 2-2.5 years raising beatles before you will have adult fireflies again. If you are not serious with this project or lack the time to finish a entire life cycle then the consequences are that you have killed off 200 possible larva/beetles from the chance at repopulating the area naturally. That means you will have hurt the enviorment more than helping it. Please reflect deeply and honestly before taking on this project as it is not like raising goldfish or any other normal "pet".
